The business was origianally owned by a Mrs Ruth Flanagan who owned the Pharmacy in the Deakin Avenue group of shops near 13th Street.  Mrs Flanagan took on Len Poole as a partner and they purchased the Pharmacy in Red Cliffs from a Mr Hildebrand  in the early 1970’s and the business was renamed Flanagan and Poole. The name has stuck ever since, even though the ownership has changed over the years.
